Accra, Ghana, October 11, 2026: The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited Ghanaian fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her family following reports of alleged domestic abuse.
According to a statement from the Ministry, the visit focused on the family’s welfare, with particular attention to the safety and emotional wellbeing of the children.
Dr Lartey assured Nana Akua and her family of the Ministry’s continued support as they navigate the situation.
Ministry promises psychosocial support for mother and children
During the visit, the Minister stressed that children should not bear the consequences of conflict or alleged violence involving adults.
She said Nana Akua and the children would receive psychosocial and social welfare support to help address the emotional impact of the situation.
The Ministry also emphasised the need to protect the family from further emotional distress while the relevant authorities respond to the case.
Access to appropriate support is an important part of protecting people affected by domestic abuse. For children, this includes attention to their safety, stability and emotional wellbeing.
Police investigation continues
The Minister said the Ministry would work with the Police and other relevant institutions while investigations continued.
According to the statement, Nana Akua’s husband was unavailable during the visit. The Ministry said it would engage him as part of its response to the situation.
The statement did not provide details of the allegations, the status of the police investigation or the specific support arrangements made for the family.
The case raises important questions about how institutions coordinate survivor support, child safeguarding and investigations into alleged domestic abuse.
As the process continues, the implementation of the promised support and the protection of the family’s safety and dignity will be important to follow.
